Upon meeting your private English-speaking driver, depart Fez for Merzouga. It’s a long drive today, however there is a lot to see on the way. Start by stopping in Ifrane, a beautiful town often likened to a Swiss Alpine resort. Pass through Cedar Forest, a woodland area in the Middle Atlas Mountains range. Moreover, it’s home to Barbary Macaque, also known as Barbary ape. Admire great views of tiny Berber villages since you begin to descend towards the Majestic Sahara desert. Along the way, view glimpse of Morocco’s nomadic tribes, travelling across the mountains and often staying in make shift tents as they head to their next destination.
After lunch in Midelt or near Errachidia, hit the road again for Merzouga. En route, stop at Ziz oasis for its magnificent panoramic view. As approaching the destination, pass through Erfoud, the gateway to majestic Moroccan Sahara, Furthermore, it’s well-known for its fossil and marble products (Dates, Fossils, … Etc). On arrival in Merzouga, you’ll then set off by camel for an hour trek out onto the Erg chebbi dunes to witness one of the best sunset ever with an overnight stay in a well-equipped Berber Camp in the heart of the desert under an endless canopy of Saharan stars.
Get up in the early morning for a truly stunning sunrise nearby your camp. After freshening up and breakfast, climb back on your camels to the city center, where your driver awaits you. Take a tour around the Erg chebbi dunes by 4-wheel drive vehicle through the gorgeous landscapes on the edge of the Sahara desert dunes. Afterwards, stop at a Gnawa house in the Khamlia village, it’s an ethnic group best known for their music, which is a rich repertoire of ancient African-Islamic spiritual songs.
Next, share a cup of tea with a nomadic Berber family in their tents, experience the nomadic lifestyle. Thereafter, head back to Merzouga center. Enjoy a Berber pizza for lunch in a traditional local restaurant, it is a Berber calzone filled with meat. Last but not least, visit the lake of Tifart (usually it’s dry due to lack of precipitation). The balance of the day is at leisure. Opt to independently experience Quad biking and a chance to watch sunset once again in the heart of Erg chebbi.

After breakfast, make our lovely way to a popular natural sight, Todra Gorge near Tinghir region. The charm of Todgha lies in its changing colors as the sun slowly moves from east to west over the towering vertical limestone cliffs that reach heights of 987ft. Furthermore, it’s carved deep into the High Atlas Mountains. Pass through Erfoud, famous for its marble products & Dates.
Plenty of time to stroll around this sumptuous site, and then continue south-west to the city of Boumalne Dades. En route, stop by a Place known as Monkey fingers for taking some pictures. Next, a wonderful panoramic view of Dades Valley and the Mountains beyond. Once arrive, check-in and free time to relax. Dinner and overnight at your hotel.
This morning, continue our journey into the Sahara with a medley of palm trees, rose fields and magnificent Canyons. Travelling from Boumalne Dades to Ouarzazate, there is a possibility of visiting the kasbah of Taourirt. By the way Ouarzazate is famed for being a prime filming location for many Hollywood TV shows and Blockbusters, there’s an opportunity to view the World’s largest film studio.
Upon arrival at the famous kasbah of Ait ben Haddou, in actuality, this setting has been used for more films than any other location in Morocco: Babel, Gladiator and Laurence of Arabia as its beauty is unequal to any other fortified kasbah in south Morocco. After lunch and a visit to this historic fortified village, then continue onwards with great views over the high Atlas Mountains and valleys to Marrakech. You don’t need a sleeping bag since there’re well-equipped Desert camps provides all the bedding you need including pillows, blankets and even a private bathroom in the tent if you need to take a shower (Luxury camp).

The camel trek is about an hour with a break in the heart of the desert in order to witness the sunset. If you prefer to walk then you can walk alongside our camel caravan but bear in mind that walking in the sand can be tiring.
