2 days Sahara desert tour from Fes to Marrakech

Once you meet your personal driver/guide, depart Fes for Merzouga. Stop in Ifrane, a charming ski resort. Pass through Cedar Forest full of Barbary Macaque monkeys, jagged rock faces, and also tiny Berber villages as you cross the middle Atlas Mountains and begin to descend towards the Majestic Sahara Desert. Along the way, view glimpse of Morocco’s nomadic tribes, travelling across the mountains and often staying in make shift tents as they head to their next destination.

After lunch in Midelt or near Errachidia, hit the road again for Merzouga. En route, stop at Ziz oasis for its magnificent panoramic view. As approaching the destination, pass through Erfoud, the gateway to majestic Moroccan Sahara, Furthermore, it’s well-known for its fossil and marble products (Dates, Fossils, … Etc). On arrival in Merzouga, you’ll then set off by camel for an hour trek out onto the Erg chebbi dunes to witness one of the best sunset ever with an overnight stay in a well-equipped Berber Camp in the heart of the desert under an endless canopy of Saharan stars. 

Enjoy an early morning sunrise just over a high dune of Erg chebbi near your tent. After freshening up and breakfast, ride camels back to Merzouga center. Then get back on the road, head to Marrakech through Alnif. Making our way through the spectacular landscape along the road that is often labeled ‘the road of a thousand Kasbahs’. Thereafter, admire views of the remarkable Agdez Canyons and vast valleys – Stopping en route for lunch in a local restaurant. Depending on the time you get to Ouarzazate, it is possible to make a stop at the famous Ait ben haddou Kasbah before driving across the High Atlas Mountains.
